Governor pledges half a million rubles towards new Jewish center!













       Nearly 1,000 people attended our Grand Chanukah Concert! The Event was called "Chanukah - Man of the Year". The evening was dedicated to raising money for our new community center.


     The event began with a speech by the Chief rabbi of Ulyanovsk, Rabbi Yossi Marozov, followed by the lighting of our grand silver menorah.

     During the evening, nine nominees were awarded “Man of the Year” for the great work they did for the Jewish community of Ulyanovsk. Nominees included “Sponsor of the year”, “Volunteer of the year”, “Young activist”, “Most active board member”, “Devoted Gabbai and Chazzan”, and new community position “Chevra Kadisha”.

     The Governor of Ulyanovsk, Sergei Ivanovich Morozov, appeared on stage during the event. He spoke of his close friendship to the Jewish community, encouraged the crowd to donate towards the building of our new Jewish Center and pledged on his own to give half a milllion rubles ($16,000)!


     The crowd was entertained by the Academic band playing Jewish Jazz, starring Igor Dabakarov.
