400 families - four tons of food

In honor of Pesach, the Jewish Center of Ulyanovsk helped out 400 families with a total of 4 tons of food, including Maza and grape juice for the Seder.

Although nearly all members of our community work in professional fields, the recent financial crisis in Russia and the collapse of the ruble to the dollar has put many people well below the poverty line. As Ulyanovsk is already a very poor city, the current situation makes it even harder.

Many members of our community have volunteered to help pack the food parcels and distribute them. Being that so many people were coming to pick up food, Rabbi Yossi Marozov, chief Rabbi of Ulyanovsk, was available to answer Pesach questions and put tefilin on people who wished to say a special prayer.

We thank our donors: The Jewish-Christian fellowship foundation headed by Rabbi Yecheil Eckstein and fund Or-Avner headed by Rabbi Dovid Mondshaine and chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar.

We are very grateful to all the volunteers and staff from our community for their tremendous help!
