Over 200 people attended our grand Sukkot event in what might be Russia's largest Sukkah! This years event was arranged in an extremely unique manner, as we combined two events: Sukkot and Simchat Torah! On Sunday afternoon, the event began with the mitzvah of Lulav and Etrog. It was followed by greetings from community leaders and the Governor of Ulyanovsk. Our entertainment included a performance by our youth, Hebrew School and Kindergarten children. The event continued with lively music and dancing! The music stopped the moment we reached nightfall. All the women gathered to light the holiday candles and afterwards over sixty people squeezed into our tiny synagogue for Simchat Torah! The participants danced with our three kosher Torah's way into the wee hours of the night!
